Sex toys vs. Schiphol Airport

Many tourists, as well as local Amsterdammers, come to our store, but also people from all over the country who come to buy a sex toy with the aim of taking it with them on holiday. That doesn't have to be a sex toy by the way, it can also be something like fun games to give the holiday sex just a little extra excitement and sensation. People who plan to fly to their holiday destination ask me the question 9 out of 10 times: do I have to take my sex toys out of the suitcase at the customs at Schiphol? Traveling with only hand luggage is of course very convenient, because you land and hop your holiday has practically already started when you run at full speed past the baggage claim. But then you have to put your sex toys in your suitcase and the idea that you might have to take them out of your suitcase at customs terrifies many.

I totally get that, it even happened to me once. I always call our Hot Stuff store in Amsterdam the Jamin for adults, packed with all kinds of fun things and a tour of the store to see what I take with me on holiday is therefore the rule rather than the exception. And during this conscious holiday, several sex toys were taken with it, such as the Power Bullet PalmPower Wand Massager and also a metal butt plug from Diogol. Anyway, when I arrived at customs I indeed had to throw everything that had a charger such as telephone and laptop in the bin on the belt and you guessed it; so is my vibrator. You understand that for me as a sex toy saleswoman that's a piece of cake, it doesn't make me hot or cold. What I had forgotten was that you can't just leave metal in your suitcase, of course. Anyway, the suitcase goes through the scanner and bam; metal! So the customs officer picks me up, opens my suitcase and sees the Diogol (in packaging). She had no idea what it was, takes the box, just barely sticks it out above her head and says quite loudly: "madam what is this?", to which I enthusiastically and just as loudly say "that's a sex toy that you up your ass!”. I have never seen a customs officer turn red so quickly and within 1 second my suitcase was closed again and I was allowed to continue.

If you now have clammy hands and you immediately took your sex toys out of your suitcase, no worries. This was a few years ago and nowadays you no longer have to take electronics out of your suitcase at Schiphol and therefore neither do your sex toys. That Diogol is a different story, because who knows if you have plans to hijack a plane with a metal butt plug as your weapon. It is therefore better to leave metal sex toys at home if you do not want to give yourself and/or an innocent customs officer a panic attack. That being said; Sex toys of any shape or size are of course not something to be ashamed of. So live your best life, take your favorite sex toy with you on vacation and enjoy it to the fullest!
